SUNDAY 27.05.12
Ipoh, Ipoh, Ipoh... Go to Ipoh for what? Makan la! Haha!
So here we were! Makan one-day-trip in Ipoh with my family, my ex-neighbours, and my mummy's friends.
Bidor was our first destination, as usual.
The first thing I did was buying the chicken floss puff with bean paste 鸡丝豆沙角.
I liked the combination very much, my ah yi commented it was quite dry.
I don't remember the name of the shop, but it is located on the right hand side, not far after turning into Bidor junction,
and it is famous for its wan tan mee too, although I've never given that a try yet.
We then had the famous duck noodles 鸭腿面, my all time favourite.
The duck meat was very soft and tender, and I like the amazingly flavoursome soup a lot!
Oops, I forgot to take a pic of it when it was served, this pic shown was eaten until halfway. =.=
This time we gave a try to the chee cheong fun from market, as recommended by mummy's friend.
I don't eat chee cheong fun, because it gives me an impression that it was tasteless, even with sauce or curry.
But for this, I even had it plain! It was simple yet tasty. =)
After leaving Bidor, we headed up to Ipoh.
We know that Ipoh is quite famous with dim sum.
I heard that normally outsiders would choose Foh San Dim Sum
but local Ipoh people would prefer Ming Court.
I'm not sure if it is true, but instead of the big big Foh San, we chose to give a try to the small small Ming Court.

Don't be cheated by its shop size, although it is much more smaller than Foh San, u will get shocked by the crowd inside the shop. @@
We had to stand there and waited for empty tables.
Some tables were even occupied by different gangs, means they "dap toi".

Once we were seated, the staff gave us almost all the choices at one time.
So we ended up like this, even before the tea was served.
Too many people too many dishes, the situation was quite a mess and rush, as like we were having a war.
Mummy said, "Aren't dim sum supposed to be enjoyed slowly? Bit by bit with a sip of tea?".
Anyway I found few of the them were quite delicious, like!
Soon after that we continued our "makan" to Funny Mountain Soya Bean.
It is famous for its tau foo fah, we called it 山水豆腐花, which seriously as smooth as silk!
Slurp~ the tau foo fah had already passed through ur throat without u noticing it.
This small bowl costs RM0.90.
It was very very soft, no kidding. I love it, superb!
Well, we actually wanted to go to the Perak Cave,
but daddy drove to the wrong destination, oops~
Whose fault? GPS fault again? @@
Okay so we continued our journey to the Perak Cave.
I was so full and sleepy, so i took a nap.
When I opened my eyes, we were already here.
Since we were here, why not take a look at the rest of the cave?
Journey began with lots of stairs, slippery some more with dripping water, and guess what?
I was wearing a dress and a pair of slippers. >,<

There is a building on the halfway of the cave.
I didn't feel any special about this building until I looked into my camera, don't u think it looks like those magic building performed by Sun WuKong 孙悟空from The Journey to the West 西游记?
Hahahaha! Good imagination I have, lol!
This craved wording didn't attract me much until again I looked into my camera, the picture is pretty nice.
Going up is always better than going down,
because going up u always have some anticipations to see more what's there.
I was sweating like hell during my way down, wish that I could have a cool shower straight away!
Sin Eng Heong is famous for its Fluffy Kaya Puff.
Yeah, fluffy, I found the puff was really soft, and the kaya was quite warm and moist. Nice try.
Besides kaya puff, I've tried their chicken floss puff with bean paste as well.
I wanted to compare theirs with those I bought at Bidor, as I mentioned earlier.
I tried my best to try out their differences, but I failed, I thought they were almost the same taste.
The only difference is the price, since one is smaller and one is bigger.
Finally we made our way to Nam Heong, which I had always been looking forward.
No need further introduction, Nam Heong is famous for its White Coffee.
Never ever miss out the white coffee there if u go to Ipoh, never!
Mummy is smart, she ordered two cups of white coffee, one hot one cold.
Okay let me tell u, the cold one can never fight with the hot one.
The hot white coffee was really rich and smooth, the first word that came into my mind was "kao"!
The cold one was not bad, but obviously not as good as the hot one.
I've not been a great fan of white coffee, but this totally changed my opinion to white coffee.
I was pretty satisfied with it, enjoyed it very much!
Take ur time to enjoy the hot white coffee there, sip by sip. =)
We wanted to try the Ipoh Hor Fun there as well, but when we reached there, it was closing already.
Some sort of seafood sold just next to Nam Heong.
Is it a shark? Let's assume that it is a shark, lol.
A shark with a crown on it and another mini shark in its mouth,
attracted us to take a picture of it.

Next, we went to Thean Chun Cafe.
We ordered Ipoh Hor Fun there, which is famous too, since we missed that in Nam Heong.
We waited for more than 20 mins for ours to be served.
I thought it was nothing special, but I was totally wrong.
Although the Hor Fun was very soft, u can swallow it without chewing it, but the soup and the ingredients were so tasty that the the bowl imparted an excellent flavour!
We ordered 2 bowls for 5 of us since we were quite full, so we ended up grabbing these 2 bowls of delicious hor fun from each other.
Especially daddy and sister, they love the broth a lot.
Overall it was sweet and pretty enticing, a pleasure to the palate!
I think it was costly for such a small bowl.
Worth the try, albeit an expensive one.
Another specialties from Thean Chun, the caramel custard pudding.
I pre-ordered it before we went for dim sum this morning.
Its look would be more attractive if it was served on a plate.
Well, the custard was cooling, but the caramel was a little too sweet for me.
It would be perfect to have its sweetness reduced a bit.
As soon as we finished our meal, it started to drizzle and then it was raining cats and dogs.
We visited a few shops before our early dinner.
They bought Heong Piah and some other biscuits as usual.
I bought something special which caught my attraction, lol!
Wafer Rolls with Durian Flavoured Cream. I bought it at RM5.50 and soon after that I found it at RM4.90 in another shop! =(
I felt its artificial flavouring and smell was quite strong, but daddy liked it as he said it was crunchy enough.
"Krunch krunch krunch"!
Another thing I bought, Matcha Milk.
As a matcha-lover, I didn't want to give up this.
This costed me about RM17.90 or RM19.90 for 15 individual packets, I couldn't remember the exact price.
Well, this disappointed me a little, it doesn't taste as I expected.
Its matcha taste was not rich enough. Well, more to a healthy drink perhaps.
Our very last stop, Onn Kee Bean Sprout Chicken Rice 安记芽菜鸡.
Actually we wanted to try Cowan Street's Bean Sprout Chicken, but it was not opened, so we had to change the venue.
I think the chicken meat was quite hard.
Well since I had chicken breast, so i couldn't give much comment on it.
The bean sprouts were so "fat"! Hahaha~
Had it with the gravy was great! *chewing*
Well, the bowl of soup with meatballs and fishballs however was bad for me.
The meatballs and fishballs were not good at all, neither the soup.
The taste was bad. For me it was kind of a failure.
Luckily we had oil rice instead of white rice.
Another table of mummy's friends had plain white rice, but they didn't complain until they finished their rice. =.=
I searched online that there is famous egg tart as well in Ipoh only after I've come back from Ipoh. It's egg tart from Kampung Simee.
I heard that it's even better than Tong Kee's, is it?
I'm not sure. Go find out in Ipoh, and bring back some for me. =D
Whoa, ate too much, feel sorry to my stomach. =(
In my opinion, an Ipoh trip is never complete without the hot white coffee from Nam Heong and the Ipoh Hor Fun from Thean Chun. =P
